Back-To-Back In Extra Holes

The GBDGA field was buzzing as they approached the 1st hole of Plamann Park for the start of the 2019 GBDGA Masters. Expectations were high looking to take down Zach Jaraczewski from winning back to back Masters Jackets. The battle ensued with many surprises through out the standings, but in the end Zach outlasted the rest, winning his second Green Jacket in as many years. This time it took an extra hole as the Overall Points leader, Nico Baron, was able to be tied after 36 holes. During the overtime round Nico Baron's caddy was giving out bad advice which ultimatley lead him to fall. With this win Zach extends his Career victories to 9, will he get to double digits in Septemper?

The GBDGA Founder's Cup brough July fireworks to Elver Park

It was a beautifully hot sunny July day at Elver Park and the farmers market was buzzing, as were the GBDGA members, awaiting the shotgun start to kick off the 2019 GBDGA Founder's Cup. With the Baskets in the short pins it quickly became anyone's tournament. There were a few close calls to new members joining the ace club but in the end no one conquered that feat. After one round the scores were tight, a mere 5 strokes separated the top from the bottom and as we could hope, the fight was on. Tommy Purdom was able to keep the ship steady, despite multiple side bets and Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner shots, to waltz his way to his first ever GBDGA Founder's Cup victory. Overall, it was a tremendous tournament and hard fought by all competitors. LI am looking forward to seeing this play continue into the end of the 2019 GBDGA season.

Zach and Dillon prove to be the best team

June is always a special time for the GBDGA as we take our break from individual competition for some mid-season fun. 2019 saw the GBDGA Team-Play Championship come back into the mix and it did not disappoint. Triangle Sports Complex is all about the Birdie runs and The team of Zach Jarazewski and Dillon Raunio had their nets catching. With three of the 4 teams tied 4 strokes behind after the first round, Zach and Dillon coasted to a 91 stroke finish to take home the victory and dethroning the 2017 Champions. With a Major on the horizon which one of these team members can take the momentum gained into the back half of the season? If these last tournaments resemble the first half we could be in for the best finish the GBDGA has ever seen.

Grignon Park is no match for Zach Jaracewski

As the GBDGA zoomed into the 2019 Subaru Classic, the competitors came in fast and furious. In the end, all but one crashed and burned, Zach Jaraczewski found himself on top of the podium for a second straight year, Coming in at 1 shot short of his 2018 Subaru Classic record score. In a surprising turn, a Casual Player, Ryan Batten found himself in the top half of the scoreboard coming in at a strong 4th place. the 2019 GBDGA season continues to show that anything is possible. As we find ourselves at the half way point, going into the GBDGA Team-Play Championship, lets hope all our players find time to reflect of the first half of the year, take their game to the garage for a tune up, and come out with all engines firing.

Following the Subaru Classic the Field took part in the 2019 Longest Drive Competition. Everyone gave it their best, but no one was able to match the power and distance of Mike Schneider to take his Long-D title away.

Wind, Snow, Tommy Still Can Throw

In true 2019 Green Bay Disc Golf fashion, Mother Nature reared it's head in the week leading up to the Green Bay Open. With snow on the ground and a cold windy day, Tommy "Hammer Throw" Purdom soared his way to the top of the standings. The rollarcoaster ride continued for the GBDGA members as yet a different winner earned their crown. There has been a lot of movement up and down the leaderboard so far this season and the train doesn't show signs of slowing down. The Players Cup has been filled for 2019!

Mother Nature may have been a cruel mistress just 8 short weeks ago, but she sure changed her tune for the 2019 Players Cup held at Evansville Disc Golf park. 9 contenders and 0 trophies showed up to test their chops against the wildly varying holes that Evansville has to offer. There were countless shots that fell in the drink, plenty of shots that landed OB, and even more shots that got stymied due to the endless trees that scatter the park. Throughout all these hazards only one could rise to the top. Nico managed to thwart off the competition and lead the way to victory. This is Nicos first win of the 2019 season and his first time winning (but has yet to hold) the Players Cup.

The 2019 Winter Championship was full fo surprises

Mother Nature reminded the members of the GBDGA that it truly was winter as the temperature dropped well below freezing and winds roaring. In the end of a hard fought tournament Doug Cassel had the heat to blaze to the top. With Zach Jaraczewski, the previous three-peat champion, not participating the doors were wide open for a new champion to take control. It was a tight battle through the first 18 holes, and in come from behind fashion Doug Cassel soared to the top from the chase card. If this first tournament is any sign of whats to come in the 2019 GBDGA season we are in for a wild ride.
